TON experienced a staggering surge of nearly 40% following Telegram’s announcement that it intends to distribute ad revenue through the Ton blockchain

The Telegram Advertising Network is set to launch in March, according to founder Pavel Durov in a recent broadcast on his official channel. This move will see the privacy-focused messaging giant begin sharing ad revenue with channel owners.

In his message, Durov revealed that channel owners can expect to receive 50% of the revenue generated from ads displayed in their channels. Currently, only 10% of the massive 1 trillion monthly views on Telegram’s broadcast channels are monetized through Telegram Ads, a privacy-centric promotional tool.

Following the announcement, the native TON token experienced a significant surge of nearly 40%, reaching over $2.92. This development also had a positive impact on the broader CoinDesk 20 index (CD20), which saw a 2.5% increase.

While Telegram has yet to officially confirm Durov’s announcement, the company had previously indicated plans to share revenue with certain channel owners, as outlined on its website.

All transactions, including payments and withdrawals, will be executed on the TON blockchain, which was developed by the same company behind Telegram. With 800 million monthly users reported as of July 2023, Telegram continues to be a major player in the messaging space.
